iPad docks for shopping carts

iPads are making their way to just anywhere on the Earth. You have them on the skies with army fighter planes, passenger aircraft, ships, schools, colleges, government colleges, and just about any other place you can image. If you imagined supermarkets as well, then you are clever.

Sainsbury’s supermarkets and Sky TV’s Sky Go service are now teaming up for designing and producing shopping carts, also known trolleys, which will have an inbuilt iPad dock, speakers, solar powered batteries for charging the iPads and the speakers, and there are sensors on the bumpers of these trolleys as well. Why do you need all this? Well, because it is possible, is that not a reason enough for you?

The trolleys come complete with a tilting iPad holder and speakers. Their front bumpers are fitted with a sensor which lets off a warning beep if an engrossed shopper gets too close to another customer, while an on board battery with a self-charging solar panel ensures that the iPads never run out of power.

But yeah, you just get the docks on these shopping carts, not the iPads also. You need to take your own iPad. And is this another reason for you to buy an iPad?

According to the UK Telegraph, the setup allows iPad users to watch “live sports or news on their portable devices.”

Ian Burgess of Setwo Designs, who created the trolleys, said:

Being able to create a gadget that is practical yet innovative is often a challenge but I think with the trolley we’ve cracked it. The trolley can be used in the traditional way for shopping yet streams the latest sports news easily.
