The gaming industry has changes a lot over the years. Gaming consoles are seeing decreases sales, but games are not. What does this mean? This means that some devices are replacing the consoles in a way that the gaming industry is booming. What could these devices be? Any guesses?

Well, if you haven’t guessed yet, these are smartphones, and tablets for sure. Devices that are prominent in the gaming industry which also fall under the smartphone and tablet categories are the iPhone and iPad. Even iPod Touch is doing good in the gaming industry as it is very much similar to the iPhone.

These Apple iDevices are replacing traditional gaming consoles rapidly. There are developers committed to developing games only for the iOS platform but not for the other popular gaming platforms. GameStop, a store which has been in the gaming industry for a long time, deals with video games and consoles. It is also prominent in buying used consoles, games, and other gaming gears and then reselling them.

In this regard, the shop has started a new campaign that a lot of gamers will love for sure. Game Stop is now buying old and used iPads and other used iDevices. So if you want to sell out that old first gen iPad of yours and be able to buy a new iPad 2, this your chance to get the best price on your old iPad. Its the same for iPhones and iPod Touches as well.

Wedbush Securities research analyst Michael Pachter thinks it’s a smart move:

“This thing about taking in used Apple products is a gigantic business. What’s the market for a fat, white iPod? Well, that market is in Latin America.”

So, are you going to sell out your old device? If you do, let us know how much money you made with it.
