I’m sure that you are really happy having a jailbroken iPad 2. But before you will rush on downloading your much awaited third-party apps, make sure you have the basic apps which are essential to your iPad 2 in terms of security and fullest enjoyment. Here are the 5 basic jailbreak apps you should have:

PDF Patcher 2
Up to now, only JailbreakME 3.0 is the tool available to jailbreak an iPad 2. The method used by Comex was through Safari by a PDF exploit. The hole left on the exploit should be covered using PDF Patcher 2 (as we covered on my previous post). After installing PDF Patcher 2, your iPad 2 is more secured than the ones not jailbroken and yet you retain the jailbreak, so no need to worry.

Activator

Activator is a Cydia tweak which lets you to assign gestures to launch specific apps in your iPad 2. It is one of the most universally practical extensions available in Cydia. Lots of jailbreak tweaks require Activator to work, so make sure you are familiar on how to use it.

SBSettings

SBSettings is a jailbreak tweak that can easily manage your iPhone’s Settings app conveniently. It can be launched by swiping your status bar from left to right, thus it’s not the same like other apps which can be found in the springboard. By having toggle switches for WiFi, 3G, EDGE, Bluetooth and others found on Settings app, you can easily turn them ON or Off.

OpenSSH

This package allows you to send and receive encrypted and secure tunnel between two devices. For security reasons, be sure to change the default root password.

CyDelete

When you want to delete an app in your iPad 2, you’ll need to click the “X” in that particular app during jiggle mode. But if you want to delete an app installed from Cydia, you will not see an “X” in jiggle mode. That’s why you need to install CyDelete to enable deleting Cydia apps just like other normal apps you have.
